The Jaw hold all our unsaid words and uncried tears
— Ben Shield

TMJ, Neck & Jaw Pain Specialist in Kingston Upon Thames, London

If you’re living with jaw pain, tension, or TMJ dysfunction, you’ll know how deeply it can affect daily life, from eating and speaking to sleep, focus, and overall well-being.

I offer specialist TMJ treatment in Kingston Upon Thames, Surbiton and London, using gentle CranioSacral Therapy to support the release of jaw tension, nervous system overwhelm, and long-held patterns in the body.

This is a calm, effective approach that works with your body — allowing your system to soften, regulate, and begin to restore balance naturally.

What is TMJ Dysfunction?

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction refers to an imbalance or tension in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. It is often linked to stress, nervous system dysregulation, teeth grinding (bruxism), posture, and emotional tension held in the body.

The jaw is more than just a hinge; it’s often a storehouse for unspoken emotion, unexpressed stress, uncried tears, and internal tension. Because of its deep connection to the cranial bones and nervous system, jaw imbalances can ripple through the head, neck, and the rest of the body, affecting how we feel physically and emotionally.

TMJ dysfunction can develop gradually over time and may become chronic if the underlying patterns are not gently addressed at their root.

  1. Headaches, migraines, and facial tension

  2. Poor eyesight

  3. Facial pain & numbness

  4. Dizziness, vertigo and balance issues

  5. Vagus nerve regulation

  6. Sinus congestion, dry or watery eyes

  7. Neck pain and shoulder

  8. Jaw clenching, popping, grinding and teeth clenching

  9. Trauma / chronic tension

  10. Neurological impairments and more

How do I Treat TMJ Pain?

Using a combination of gentle CranioSacral Therapy, fascia release, massage, and gentle inner oral work helps relieve tension and pressure in the jaw, neck, and surrounding tissues, rather than forcing change. My work follows the body’s cues, allowing release and softening to occur naturally. Over time, this can help ease pain and improve jaw movement and associated pain.

What to Expect During Your Session

In my practice, I provide a safe, nurturing, and confidential space where you can fully let go and embark on your healing journey. This environment fosters exploration and growth, enabling you to connect with your inner self. Your voice, both internal and external, is crucial to your treatment and will always be met with tenderness, compassion and unconditional loving awareness.

During or after your treatment, you may experience subtle shifts in your conscious and subconscious mind. You may also experience detox symptoms as your body transitions to a more balanced, harmonious state. These shifts usually settle in a few days.

Recommended Treatment Plan

For optimal results and to determine whether this is the right treatment for you, I recommend a minimum of 3 to 4 sessions. After this initial series, we will assess your healing journey together.

  • Yes – sometimes it can. With proper rest, stress management, and bodywork like craniosacral therapy, symptoms often ease up over time.
